Oral surgery
Been told a tooth has to come out, and dreading it? That is normal. With a careful technique it is far easier than you imagine.
Book on WhatsAppWhat is oral surgery?
It is the part of dentistry that deals with extractions and minor procedures in the mouth: from removing a damaged tooth to preparing the bone for an implant.
After 32 years of surgery, my priority is still the same: protect the healthy tissue so recovery is quick and comfortable.
What does oral surgery solve?
A tooth that cannot be saved
If a tooth is too far gone, I remove it carefully and then we look at how to replace it, without any rush.
Wisdom teeth
When they cause trouble or have no room, they need to come out. I always assess them first with an X-ray.
Remnants and difficult extractions
Root remnants and tricky teeth call for a surgical approach. I take my time over them, with a careful, steady hand.
Preparing the mouth for implants
Bone grafts and sinus lifts, when your case needs them, so implants can be placed safely.
An extraction, step by step
I explain everything before doing anything, and work to make the experience better than you expect:
- 1
Assessment and X-ray
I see how the tooth is doing and tell you clearly whether it can be saved or should come out.
- 2
Fixed quote
You know what I am going to do and what it costs before we start. No surprises halfway through.
- 3
The procedure
With local anaesthetic it does not hurt: you will feel pressure, nothing more. A careful technique that preserves bone and gum.
- 4
Aftercare at home
You leave with written instructions, and I am one WhatsApp message away for any question.
- 5
Follow-up
I check the healing and, if the tooth needs replacing, we look at the options at your pace.

Patients who have been through it
London · Finchley
After my wisdom tooth extraction by Dr Eugenia Vila, I experienced prolonged swelling and pain at the surrounding area for which I received prompt medication. The site itself was healing well! Thankfully, I saw Dr Vila the next day I called for a review. She is experienced and instils confidence particularly for doing extractions. The after pain is now gone. The quality of aftercare truly reflects a good clinic. I am very happy with it. Thanks to Dr Vila and the team.. I would highly recommend this clinic 👍View review

Frequently asked questions
Does an extraction hurt?
With local anaesthetic, no: during the procedure you feel pressure, but not pain. There can be some discomfort for a few days afterwards, well controlled with the written instructions I give you. Most of my patients tell me it was far better than they expected.
What aftercare do I need following an extraction?
The first 24 hours matter most: a cold compress, no vigorous rinsing, no smoking and soft food. You leave with complete written instructions, and I check the healing at your follow-up.
Do wisdom teeth always have to come out?
No. They are only worth removing when they cause problems or are about to: decay that cannot be properly treated, repeated infections, damage to the neighbouring molar or lack of room. It is assessed with an examination and an X-ray, not as a matter of routine.
What does the first visit cost?
Nothing: the first assessment is free. I examine you, listen to what you need and explain your options, and you then receive a fixed, written quote with no obligation. If your case needs X-rays, I give you a referral note for a nearby radiology centre; if you go ahead with treatment, what you pay for them is deducted from the quote.
Do treatments come with a guarantee?
Every treatment comes with a written plan and a fixed quote. With an implant, the one-month and three-month check-ups are included; after that, maintenance for the implant is a hygiene and check-up visit every six months, charged like any hygiene visit and with the price in writing beforehand. I explain the specific guarantee terms at your first assessment, based on your case.
